Native App
RetailMeNot is one of the most trusted brands for online coupons, deals, and cash back, connecting over 70,000 brands and advertisers with shoppers. RetailMeNot's native app had the most loyal audience and the least attention. I formed the design strategy for a full redesign, rebuilding the app around saved offers, and in-store redemption, and an updated interface. I also ran the research that helped shaped RetailMeNot's user retention strategy.
Outcomes
- ✱31% increase in revenue yield
- ✱62% increase in new account creation
Genie
Genie, RetailMeNot's browser extension (now RetailMeNot Browser Extension), finds and applies codes at checkout so shoppers don't have to search for them.
The overhaul aligned Genie with RetailMeNot's brand evolution, which gave us room to bring much more personality into the product. Updates to the extension and its landing page focused on helping people understand what Genie does and setting it apart from competitors.
Landing Page
RetailMeNot promoted Genie heavily across the site, sending a large share of its organic daily traffic to Genie's landing page. That page led with static, non-descriptive imagery, and people didn't understand what the extension did — multiple webstore reviews noted confusion and apprehension. I replaced it with an instructional animated flow that showed Genie working at checkout and simplified the messaging around it.
Goals
- ✱Improve click-through rate
- ✱Grow organic traffic
- ✱Increase user conversion
How It Works
After the landing page redesign shipped, I added a simple "How It Works" section to teach people what Genie does and drive engagement. I worked closely with the content strategy team on copy that clearly explained how Genie helps while you shop. We ran it as a two-week A/B test against a control without the section.
Outcomes
- ✱11% increase in conversion during the test period
- ✱Organic traffic growth from SEO opportunities in the new section
